spirella s.a. Embrach
History

Spirella was founded in 1958 by Anton-A. Heuberger. At that time, showers were hardly known in Switzerland and Mr Heuberger proudly claimed that it was him who taught the Swiss how to shower with the invention of the shower curtain!

The rapidly growing company was transformed into a family holding in 1973 and incorporated as a subsidiary into the German Leifheit corporate group.

With its fashionable, trendy products such as bathroom accessories, bath textiles and shower bars, spirella s.a.has developed into a brand  that is recognized world-wide and into Europe’s leading bathroom furnisher. In the production plant in Embrach, shower curtain rails and shower curtains are being produced. Furthermore, Embrach houses  the sales department, a large showroom, the administration as well as the innovative spirella design studio.

The company, with its head quarters in Embrach in the Canton of Zurich, realizes -with a staff of 180 and  its subsidiaries in France and Germany -  a turnover of about 70 million Swiss francs. Their products are exported to 65 countries.

On June 1st, 2010, spirella has returned as an independent company into Swiss ownership. The well-known investment company Cross has taken over the majority of spirella in the course of a management buy-out.

Cross invests in leading, profitable, mid-sized companies in fast-growing, traditional industries such as engineering, machine construction, industrially manufactured products and services. The Cross Team has  successfully invested into 26 companies in German-speaking Europe.

Spirella has been headed  by manager Ernst Kraft since 1988.
